Celebrating 7 Years
ScanFest in the Carolinas
Although “saga” originally means “fairytale” in an old Scandinavian language, it is also SAGA, the Scandinavian, American General Assembly of the Carolinas: a non-profit organization which was founded in 2005 to promote cultural exchange between the United States of America and the five Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden). SAGA’s primary objectives are the preservation and enjoyment of Scandinavian traditions, customs, history and cultural heritage.
One of SAGA’s main functions is to organize an annual Scandinavian festival in Charlotte, NC, to highlight the best that Scandinavia has to offer. Our event is known as ScanFest of the Carolinas, and it will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2010. After only five years, attendance at our festival has more than doubled in size. ScanFest promises to be better than ever as it celebrates its 6th Anniversary this year.
As Executive Director for SAGA my goal is to find ways to heighten awareness of SAGA in our region, as well as to promote our fundraising efforts. I am originally a Finnish national and an active member of Scandinavian-American Foundation, Suomi-Finland Club of Charlotte and Finnish School of Charlotte.
This year we are concentrating on Green Innovative Ideas as well as Genealogy and Immigration. Our featured country is Norway. We invite you to be part of the only Nordic Festival in southeast of the United States. We are offering your company the greatest platform in Charlotte, The Atrium Uptown to showcase your products and specialties.
In order to bring the best possible Scandinavian festival to Charlotte we are seeking your support. Join us to celebrate our 7-year anniversary in November 2010.
Thank you in advance for your consideration.
Sincerely yours,
Sanna-Maija Tucker
Executive Director
