ScanDans performs traditional
folk dances from the Nordic countries of Sweden, Norway, Denmark,
Finland and
Iceland and they usually perform in authentic folk costumes from
those countries. They are celebrating their 25th anniversary
this year.
For the Viking presentation, they wear recreations of clothes
and jewelry found in Danish Viking gravesites from the 11th century.
Their Viking show interweaves folk dances from all over Scandinavia
with fun information about the culture and exploits of the Vikings.
A favorite dance is the Swedish “Ox Dance” – which
has now gained fame as the “Viking Fight Dance.” They
also do a sword dance.
Scandans will treat us with two performances
